Two ways to connect
Linear now runs a hosted MCP server. Connect it and the agent can work with your entire Linear workspace, not just the OAuth-scoped view.- Linear MCP (recommended). Connect Linear’s MCP server once and the agent can read and update issues, create projects, post comments, track cycle progress. See Connect with MCP.
- Linear OAuth. The original sign-in integration, scoped to what you grant. See Connect with OAuth.

Connect with MCP

Add the Linear connection
From the agent’s connections, choose Linear. The platform connects you through Linear’s MCP server.

Sign in to Linear
A connect card appears. Sign in to your Linear account and approve.

The agent gets to work
It can now read and update issues, create projects, post comments, track cycle progress through the MCP server.

Connect with OAuth
What you share
During the connect flow you authorize what the agent can reach. It works only within what you grant. As with every connection, the underlying token is handled securely and never exposed to the model. See Permissioning.1
Authorize Linear for the agent
From the agent’s connections, choose Linear and sign in.

Confirm what the agent can reach. You can change this later.

It works through the secure proxy, within what you granted.
